Void Monitoring and Track Temperature
Safely and autonomously monitor and record
VoidSense®
track safety monitoring
VoidSense® from RailSense is a void meter (RTVMD) and track temperature monitor. It is designed to be installed on a rail network track to monitor both temperature and movement of the rail, allowing under-track voids to be detected remotely and before occurrence of failure.
The VoidSense measures with a high degree of accuracy.
- Replaces mechanical void measure devices
- Avoids staff on tracks to take and record the readings – saves cost, errors and risk
- Temperature monitor for track to monitor temperature of the rail from –20 to +85 degrees C.
- Intelligently plan train speeds, help prevent buckling, and keep the railway running as reliably as possible with improved passenger safety.
Continuous detection of void conditions provides cost savings during maintenance cycles by allowing voids to be identified long before a settlement or encroachment becomes an issue. The trending of the displacement data enables predictive maintenance, or imposing safe speed limits on the relevant sections of the rail network.
By combining temperature, weather and solar radiation data, RailSense can build a picture and provide analytics to assist in the design and maintenance of the rail network.
The devices are built for zero-maintenance and ultra-low power consumption, backed with solar charging.
An optional temperature monitor is also available to measure both track and ambient temperature.
- VoidSense track sensor array actively measures track movement and temperature
- On-device logging with readings sent real-time to a central server via secure data link
- Measurement data and reports are stored in secure cloud for access anywhere
- Hazardous conditions can be automatically notified via SMS messages or e-mail
